What We Can Treat

We offer treatment options for a number of conditions. Everyone is different and we tailor our treatments so that they will work for you. If yours is not listed please contact us- if we aren't able to help we can refer you to someone who can!

Acne & Rosacea

We at JP Skin understand how acne and rosacea can have a profound effect on suffers. It can be completely debilitating, stopping you from leaving the house or socialising. It is also often poorly treated and can be trivialised by health professionals. Therefore, we have joined with the Acne and Rosacea Association UK. We are proud to be a recognised centre offering the best treatment and solutions to common pitfalls in treatment. We also include treatment of common conditions which are as a result of acne and rosacea, for example, scarring, telangiectasia (blood vessels just below the surface of the skin) and Rhinophyma (red nose & cheeks).

‘Enerpeel® technology is a new, patented carrier solution which restrains the activity of the acid until it is absorbed. This is not buffering the acid and does not reduce its activity; instead, it restrains the acid and then releases it to accelerate through the skin, enhancing its activity.

Enerpeel® means uniform, enhanced absorption of the active ingredients, with two- to three-fold improved skin penetration. Enerpeel®, therefore, releases the acid’s protons at a higher skin water content so they accelerate through the skin, separating cells in a ‘cleaner’ quicker way.

The result? Less Surface Trauma, Faster Surface Recovery with Erythema Reducing Rapidly. Enhanced Remodelling Stimulation.’

Signs of Aging

What happens to our skin as we age?

As we get older our skin goes through several changes, these result in a number of visible signs of aging, for example:

Reduction of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) levels = Dry, less volume, uneven tone, deepening of lines and wrinkles

Thinning of the skin = uneven skin tone, more visible capillaries, uneven skin tone

Decreased blood supply = less nutrients and cells, pigmentation changes and age spots

Loss of Collagen & Elastin = loss of volume, dryness, uneven skin tone, slackening of the skin, folds and wrinkles

Laxity of facial muscles = sagging, slackening of the skin, deep wrinkles and folds

What causes skin aging?

There are generally 3 factors that cause skin aging

Environmental

Sunlight, Ambient UV light and Gravity

Habitual

Artificial UV Light, Smoking, Alcohol and Diet

Genetic

Have a naturally lower hyaluronic acid (HA) levels, more rapidly declining HA levels, naturally lower collagen and fat level, more rapidly declining collagen and fat levels, weaker facial muscles

Scaring & Stretch Marks

Facial scaring can have a big impact on the way we look at ourselves in the mirror. It’s very difficult to hide with makeup and unlike some conditions cannot be treated by medication. That’s where we come in. We use the most advanced evidence based Microneedling technique, that is proven to reduce the appearance of scarring. By causing minute wounds the body responds by sending new cells to repair the area- this results in the healing of scar tissue and reduced visibility of the scar itself.

Stretch marks are caused when the skin is stretched too quickly. There are a number of things can cause this;

Pregnancy, puberty, and rapid weight gain.

Often the use of oils and moisturizers are advertised to help reduce them- these can only affect the top layer of the skin (the epidermis), this cannot cause any physical change in the skin. By using Microneedling we are able to cause physical change to the inner layer of the skin (dermis), triggering a healing response within the body. This proven treatment reduces the visibility of stretch marks using the bodies own healing response over a number of treatments.

Excessive Sweating

What Causes Excess Sweating

Sweating is a completely natural bodily function- it happens when the outside temperature rises, during a fever, or during a stressful or anxious event. When not in any of those situations the sweat glands are ‘turned off’ Some people, however will sweat even when it is not hot outside, in fact sometimes it is for no reason at all. Some medical conditions which have the potential to cause excessive sweating are as follows: Pregnancy, Diabetes, Hyperthyroidism, Menopause, Obesity, Parkinson’s Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lymphoma, Gout and Infection.

Teeth Grinding

What causes teeth grinding?

Teeth grinding is often related to stress and anxiety. Teeth grinding has also been linked to SSRI antidepressants. People who snore or have a sleep disorder, such as obstructive sleep apnoea, are also more likely to grind their teeth while they sleep. Other possible causes are, sleep paralysis, hallucinations, high intake of alcohol, smoking, using recreational drugs and having more than 5 cups of caffeinated drinks a day.

Symptoms of teeth grinding

Some symptoms of teeth grinding are:

Facial pain

Headaches

Earache

Pain a stiffness of the jaw

Disrupted sleep

Worn-down teeth

Broken teeth and fillings

How can we help?

Muscle Relaxing Injections can be used to the mandible (the large muscle to either side of the lower face) stopping teeth grinding. This is not a cure, and your symptoms will gradually return after 3-6 months.
